Probably like butterflies or other creatures, I am attracted to color. Bright color. Many colors. All together.
Growing up I recall the daunting task of “matching” clothes to wear to school. This was done using some dark-art of pre-teen and teenage color theory that I only learned in glancing blows. I never understood the details.
Today I have a passable understanding of color theory, and how to carefully select swatches of color for my design clients pieces. And I suppose you could say that the colors “match.” Though, I’m not sure I believe in matching anymore. I believe in the color wheel, and some colors together are harmonious and produce one type of effect and feeling in the viewer, while other colors together may project an entirely different effect and feeling in the viewer.
Matching seems too narrow a concept these days.
